The Great Retreat
The lush canopy of Greater Faydark once echoed with the sounds of Orcish raiding parties; however, those days have darkened. Under a relentless campaign from the Kelethin Rangers and Kaladim's fiercest warriors, the Crushbone clan was systematically hunted. Their camps were razed, and their influence in the woods began to evaporate.
Driven by survival, the clan pulled back. They retreated into the jagged shadows of the Crushbone valley, transforming their home from a raiding camp into a desperate, iron-clad fortress. They knew that if the Elves breached the valley floor, the clan would fall forever.
The Overseer's Iron Fist
With the clan on the brink of collapse, the Orc Overseer took control. He was a veteran of many wars: he saw the Pawns for what they were: a liability within a fortress. He issued an immediate decree: All Orc Pawns were to be driven back into the Faydark. They were tasked with holding the outer camps and the path to Kelethin: sacrificial lambs to stall the Elven advance.
Within the valley walls, the atmosphere changed. The Overseer mandated that only Centurions, Legionnaires, and Elite Legionnaires were fit to man the inner defenses. Crushbone was no longer a home for the weak: it was a sanctuary for the strong.
The Bane of the Wood Elves
The Overseer brought more than just discipline: he brought the secret of the Bane Forge. He gathered the clan's smiths and taught them to craft weapons specifically designed to tear through Elven mail and spirit. These weapons were distributed to the elite ranks, turning every Legionnaire into a specialized killer of Wood Elves.
To seal the clan's resolve, a weapon of unparalleled power was forged for Emperor Crush. It is a blade of pure malice, designed to shatter the resolve of Kelethin's royalty. When the Emperor stands upon his throne, he holds the very symbol of the clan's vengeance.
The Penitent's Rebellion
As the Overseer's Iron Decree began to choke the life from the weak, a single voice of dissent emerged from the shadows of the slave pits. Thokk the Penitent, once a feared taskmaster, witnessed the Overseer's cruelty and saw the end of his people's honor. He realized that a clan built only on hate and the blood of sacrificial lambs was a clan destined for extinction.
Risking the executioner's axe, Thokk began a dangerous game of subversion. He started gathering the remains of the Overseer's fallen elite warriors: bones tempered in the Bane Forge: not to honor them, but to use them as the catalyst for the clan's downfall. But Thokk lacked the arcane skill to shape these grim trophies into weapons of liberation.
Through the whispers of the slave network, Thokk found an unlikely ally in Arandil Leafsworn. A Wood Elf fletcher standing watch at the edge of the Faydark near the Great Tree, Arandil understood that to pierce the Overseer's defenses, one must use a weapon of equal malice. Now, they operate in the narrow space between the fortress walls and the forest edge, waiting for a champion brave enough to carry the Box of Orc Bones across the war-torn valley floor.
The Lord Guard & The War Path
To ensure the command structure remained untouched, the Overseer instituted the Lord Guard. These massive Orcs serve as the final line of defense, flanking Lord Darish and protecting the vital pathway that leads to the inner sanctum.
This pathway is where Emperor Crush and Ambassador D'Vinn meet to plot their retaliatory strikes. By protecting Darish, the Lord Guards protect the brain of the Orc army. The valley is now a fortress of hate, ready to unleash the Overseer's bane upon any who dare enter.
